Dream Wizards hosts Magic: the Gathering Premiere Events on a regular basis.
Most tournaments are held on store premises. Periodically, larger events, such as a Prereleases and Regionals, are held at another location.
We organize many more Magic tournaments then what you will find on this web page.

Magic the Gathering: Pro Tour Qualifier Berlin

Format:
The format for Pro Tour–Berlin Qualifier is Block Constructed:
  * Events held prior to July 25, 2008 will use Lorwyn, MorningtideTM & Shadowmoor
  * Events held July 25, 2008 or later will use Lorwyn, Morningtide, Shadowmoor, & Eventide
Tournament:
Modified Swiss tournament, cutting to Top 8 finals. Swiss rounds are 50 minutes, best two out of three games. All players may participate in all Swiss rounds. The top 8 players at the end of Swiss rounds will advance to the top 8 single-elimination finals.
Prizes:
1st place wins airline travel to Pro Tour Berlin. Booster packs awarded based on standings.
Additional Prizes:
If you've never attended a Pro Tour this prize is for you - receive one booster pack as a prize any time you win a round against any player who has attended a Pro Tour.
Deck Registration:
Judges will collect a Deck Registration List from each player when players are seated for the first round. Prior to arriving at the tournament, we recommend that you prepare a Deck Registration list. List the entire contents of your deck legibly, including land and any sideboard, with the quantity and title of each card. Include your Name and DCI number at the top of the sheet. If you do not have a DCI number, one will be supplied free of charge when you register for the tournament.
Card Sleeve Policy:
Sleeves are are recommended. But, if you choose to use them, sleeves must be opaque, solid colored, unillustrated, and not overly reflective or holographic. Your sleeves should also be free of defects, excess wear, and other noticeable markings. If you have any questions or concerns about the legality of your sleeves, please talk with the head judge of the event.
Notes:
Players must bring pen, paper, card sleeves and appropriate counters.
This is a constructed event, so you must come prepared with a deck that has a minimum of 60 cards and is tournament legal.

 

Magic The Gathering: Regionals
Participate in one of the most popular annual tournaments- the only opportunity to play Standard format in a large tournament that draws players throughout the region. Regionals is open to all players.
Throughout the day we will also offer a selection of side event tournaments-  Block Limited (Sealed), and Booster Drafts.

Ample free parking in designated lots- 1 and Z (two city-blocks beyond the Student Union). A fee-based indoor garage is adjacent to the building (on Union Lane).

Format:
Standard Constructed (Type 2):
Constructed decks must contain a minimum of sixty cards. There is no maximum deck size. If a player wishes to use a sideboard, it must contain exactly fifteen cards. With the exception of basic land cards, a player’s combined deck and sideboard may not contain more than four of any individual card. All cards named Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, and Forest are basic.
The following card sets are permitted in Standard tournaments:
10th Edition, Coldsnap, Time Spiral, Planar Chaos, Future Sight, Lorwyn, Morningtide, Shadowmoor. There are currently no banned cards in Standard tournaments. Official information about Constructed formats and the Standard format can be found in the Magic: The Gathering Floor Rules.
Deck Registration:

Prizes:
This location awards a minimum of 4 Invitations to Nationals. If the total attendance of Regionals is 411 players or higher, there will be 8 invitations awarded to U.S. Nationals. The US National Championship will be held in Chicago, August 1-3, 2008. 1st Place wins the 2008 Regionals Trophy. Pack prizes are guaranteed to the top 32 players.

*Players are allowed to trade cards. However, anyone who buys cards from or sells cards to other players will be asked to leave the event immediately.

Description:
Players build a deck using sealed product. We with use one of these two combinations, depending on player interest- either a Shadowmoore Tournament Pack and 2 Shadowmoore boosters, or a Lorwyn Tournament Pack and 2 Morningtide boosters.

At the end of Swiss rounds, the Top 16 players will participate in a 32-promo card draft consisting of 4 copies each of Cenn's Tactician, Reckess Worm, Zoetic Cavern, Mindstone, Yixlid Jailer, Mogg Fanatic, Calcidern, Vexing Shusher. In addition top finishers will win booster packs, based on attendance.

9:30 AM until 6 PM: Registration is open for Sealed Deck Tournaments (continuous registration, a new tournament begins when 32 players are enrolled).
9:30 AM, and at 1 PM: Registration will be taken for 2-Headed Giant events at two distinct times.
Noon to 7:30 PM: Booster Drafts (continuous registration).
11 AM to 5 PM: Open Dueling (continuous registration).

Format details:
Sealed Deck Tournaments:
Play in as many tournaments as you like. A new tournament begins each time 32 players register. Players receive a Shadowmoore Tournament deck & 3 Eventide Boosters.  4-round tournaments last approximately 4.5 hours. 50-minute rounds; play best of 2 out of 3 games. Players are paired every round, win or lose. Prize awards based on players win/lose records.
Two-Headed Giant (2HG):
Multi-player, 2-person Team event. Both members of the team play an opposing team, with all 4 players participating in the same match. 2HG team members are permitted to communicate with one another during the match. Each team receives 1 Shadowmoor  Tournament Pack and 5 Eventide Boosters, plus land as needed to build 2 decks. 4-round event. Teams are paired every round, win or lose. Open Dueling:
An event designed for great for all ages, newer & casual players. Receive a random pre-constructed Eventide Theme Deck. Just open the box and play, no construction necessary! Play 5 games against other Open Dueling players & fill out a score card. Return the score card for a prize (Eventide booster) and a promotional foil card.
Eventide Booster Drafts:
A new draft begins when 8 players are registered. Players draft three booster packs. The top four finishers receive prizes. Booster Drafts are single-elimination tournaments.
Notes:
Players, please bring a pen, paper and counters!
Players are welcome to trade cards. However, anyone who buys, sells or solicits other players to either will be asked to leave the event without refund .Dealers will be on site to buy and sell cards.

 

Magic the Gathering: Eventide Prerelease-  JULY 13- SUNDAY Tournament

Eventide Boosters awarded to top finishers in all tournaments.

Format Descriptions:

Sealed Deck Tournaments:
Registration for all Sealed Daeck tournaments: 11 AM to Noon.
(If you are late, we will do our best to add you to a flight in progress, for as long as it is practical.)
Players receive a Shadowmoor Tournament pack and 3 Eventide Boosters. 4 round tournaments lasting approximately 4.5 hours. Players are paired every round, win or lose. Rounds are 50 minutes; play best of 2 out of 3 games. Prize awards are based on players' win/lose records.

Open Dueling:

Noon to 4PM, while supplies last.
This format is designed for newer and/or players. Register and receive a random pre-constructed Eventide Theme Deck. Just open the box and play, no construction necessary! Play 5 games against any other player in the Open Dueling area, and record your results on a scorecard. Once you've completed 5 games, turn in the scorecard and receive a Booster Pack and Prerelease promotional card.

Booster Drafts:
Space permitting, beginning 12:30 PM, more room will be available from 4 to 7 PM. A new draft begins when 8 players are registered. Players draft three booster packs. The top four finishers receive prizes. Booster Drafts are single-elimination tournaments.

Bring a pen, paper and counters! Players are welcome to trade cards. However, anyone who buys, sells or solicits other players to either will be asked to leave the event without refund.
