Shonen Jump's Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Championship Weekend of Events

General Description:
A weekend featuring a series of tournaments that includes a Yu-Gi-Oh! Shonen Jump Championship, a Yu-Gi-Oh!  Regionals Qualifier and 7 or more additional Yu-Gi-Oh!  tournaments including the Best Side Event Player prize. Please check the separate schedules for the Main Event and all Side Events for dates and start times.  All tournaments are open events, and all players in good standing are welcome to participate. You must pay a separate fee for each tournament that you enter.
Trading: Trading is allowed. Buying and selling cards to anyone other than the dealer(s) is not.

9:30 AM Shonen Jump Championship Top 16 Player Meeting
10:00 AM   Shonen Jump Top 16 begins.
10:30 AM  Registration for Yu-Gi-Oh! Regional Qualifier ends.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Shonen Jump Championship- Main Event Information:
Be a part of the Shonen Jump's Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Championship and duel for unprecedented prestige and prizes! A Yu-Gi-Oh! Shonen Jump Championship is a tournament that is open to all players, and where the top finishers earn prizes such as Laptops and iPods, Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG booster packs, Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG promotional cards, and invitations to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG National Championships.

Event Fee:
$20, Cash only.

UDE Numbers:
Please bring your UDE# with you! If you do not already have a UDE# one will be given to you free of charge.

Deck Registration:
Everybody is required to hand in a Deck List. We recommend that you prepare your Deck Registration List in advance, at home. Use the Yu-Gi-Oh! Constructed Deck List  or you may use any 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper. It should include your Name, UDE number, and the quantity and name of each and every card that makes up your deck. LINK

Format:
Important Note: Official Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament Policy updates will be posted on on September 1, 2008. We will be enforcing the "Advanced Format Rules."
• Your Main Deck must be between 40 and 60 cards. In addition to the 40-card minimum, your Main Deck now has a maximum size limit of 60 cards. Remember, it’s usually best to stay close to the 40-card minimum so you can draw and use your strongest and favorite cards more reliably.
• The Fusion Deck is now called the Extra Deck. It can be between 0 and 15 cards. Not just for Fusion Monsters anymore, you will also include the new white-framed Synchro Monster cards in this Deck. The Extra Deck still uses all the same rules as the Fusion Deck.
•You many use no more than 3 copies of any card. Cards that appear on the Limited or Semi-Limited list have limits below 3. Please review the list of cards which are banned, limited, or semi-limited in this format. Please review the Yu-Gi-Oh Floor rules..

Tournament Structure:
There will be 9 or 10 Swiss rounds, and then a cut to the Top 16. For those unfamiliar with Swiss, the number of rounds of play will be determined by attendance, and players can participate in each round, win or lose, until the Swiss rounds end. After Swiss rounds, the Top 16  players will participate in Single Elimination finals.

Please note:
Swiss rounds will take place on Saturday, September 6. The Top 16 Finals will take place on Sunday, September 7.

Card Sleeve Policy:
If you choose to use them, sleeves must be opaque, solid colored, unillustrated, and not overly reflective or holographic. Your sleeves should also be free of defects, excess wear, and other noticeable markings. You may only use one sleeve per card. All of your sleeves must be exactly the same. If you have any questions or concerns about the legality of your sleeves, please talk with the head judge of the event.

Prizes:
1st Place Champion:
A laptop computer, championship trophy, Shonen Jump Championship Prize Card "Doomcaliber Knight",  entry into the National Championships, and booster packs of the most current set.
2nd Place Runner Up:
16GB iPod Touch, Nintendo DS Lite, "Doomcaliber Knight", entry into the National Championships, and booster packs of the most current set.
3rd Place (winner of Consolation Match):
Sony Playstation 3 Gaming Console, "Doomcaliber Knight",  entry into the National Championships, and booster packs of the most current set.
4th Place (loser of Consolation Match):
Sony Playstation 3 Gaming Console, entry into the National Championships, and booster packs of the most current set.
5th - 8th Places:
Nintendo DS Lite, entry into the National Championships, and booster packs of the most current set.
9th - 16th Places:
iPod Shuffle and booster packs of the most current set.



Yu-Gi-Oh! Shonen Jump Championship- Side Events

General Information:
All Side Events will be Advance Format Constructed. Players may sign up for one event at a time, and no more than one event per hour.
Entry Fees:
Yu-Gi-Oh! Regional Qualifier - $15
All other Yu-Gi-Oh! Side Events - $10

Yu-Gi-Oh! Shonen Jump Weekend Promotional Card Event:
Win the SJC promotional card- "Doomcaliber Knight", when you become the "Best Side Event Player".
The Best Side Event Player is determined through participation in Yu-Gi-Oh! side events taking place on both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are earned by playing in any Yu-Gi-Oh! Side Events offered on Saturday and Sunday. Every time you register you will get one ticket for participating, plus the winner of each side event will be given a minimum of one additional ticket.

  • The Yu-Gi-Oh! Regional Qualifier event will feature double tickets for participation.
Eligibility for "Best Side Events Player" Grand Prize Finals:
On Sunday at 3 PM, Four tickets will be drawn and the names announced. These players will have 2 minutes to claim their seat in the Final Four Play-off. If any player is not present after 2 minutes, their name will be discarded and a new one called, until we have the final four. Competition for the "Doomcaliber Knight" card will be determined by single elimination Final rounds. There are no other prizes involved. The 1st - 3rd place winners of the main event are not eligible for this drawing.

5th - 8th Place:
Exclusive play mat, Yu-Gi-Oh!  booster packs.
9th Place and beyond:
Yu-Gi-Oh!  booster packs will be awarded to an additional number of players, based on attendance.



Dealer Tables

Dealers will be on site to sell Yu-Gi-Oh!  cards and supplies. Players are welcome to trade cards. However, only authorized dealers may sell at our events. Anyone else selling cards will be asked to leave, no exceptions. The use of suitcases, handcarts, luggage carts, etc. to be used for the purpose of transporting excessive amounts of trade stock is not permitted. Judges

We are looking for lots of judging staff for this event. Judging opportunities are available for individuals with at least a Level 1
certification in Yu-Gi-Oh!  rules knowledge. Level 2 tests may be arranged for those on staff. For more details, please contact  Laurel@dreamwizards.com.


Player Notes:

Players, please bring counters, a pen, and paper to keep track of life totals! Players are welcome to trade cards. However, anyone who buys, sells, or solicits other players to do either will be asked to leave the event without refund. Dream Wizards does not allow the use of suitcases, handcarts, luggage carts, etc. to be used for the purpose of transporting excessive amounts of trade stock.
